On The Edge - 10 Year celebration - looking back...

Myself and a group of older youth had been planning this whole weekend since before Christmas and hosted the event in the Jubilee Hall in Chagford on the 17th and 18th June. The event started by holding a thanksgiving service early Friday evening for all individuals and churches who have, over the years, supported the project financially and spiritually with the sermon being given by Bishop Nick McInnel of Plymouth.

This was then followed by refreshments and a quick turnaround to transform the hall into a  music venue for the later hours of the evening with Bill Ding and the Skyscrapers providing the tunes, old and new, to get everyone up and dancing. Many commented on their professionalism and musicianship and everyone who attended clearly enjoyed themselves thoroughly. It was a great treat for us to be able to host this event for the community.

The next day brought more entertainment for all those coming to support the project - a fun interactive quiz afternoon with live music from local young people spread throughout the afternoon as well as videos about the projects 10 years and a hog roast! The young people running and hosting the event, as well as the performers, did themselves proud and showed the amount of talent that Chagford’s youth have to offer!

This event wasn’t down to one person, but a whole team effort. A huge well done and thank you goes to everyone who helped out over the weekend that people are still buzzing about and looking back on with great fondness.

Throughout the event we continued to thank lots of people who have helped make the project what it is today. We couldn’t have done it without and I can’t thank you enough for all that you have contributed. Chagford is unique and I thank you for supporting the project over the 10 years. Not many small communities have been able to sustain projects like this, so this really is a huge achievement. Please continue to support in any way you can and here’s to the next 10 years!
